We Like Drinks

This may be one of those basement bars that people had in their houses. My grandfather usually had some pretty nice ones so I grew up playing pool and pinball while listening to polkas on the jukebox.

The Flower Boys

Sometimes looking at a slide teaches me something about the world. The younger boy in this slide, for instance, is wearing what I would consider to be the smallest pair of suspenders I’ve ever seen. Did you know that the one of the first patent for suspenders was issued in 1871 to Samuel Clemens. The author Mark Twain always wore suspenders. Mark Twain wrote under the pen name Samuel Clemens. Things that make you go hmmm.

Egypt #1

While most of the slides we publish are from the USA and Europe, I did receive a few in the mail last month that were of Egypt in the 70’s.

The word chrome is slang for chromium, which is one of 91 naturally elements that can be found in the periodic table. Produccts are not made from chromium but instead are plated in chromium which yeilds a mirror-like finish. Peopple will often refer to a shiny metal as chrome in a generic manner but in fact the metal they are looking at might actually be aluminum or stainless steel. Only when you see them side by side does the chrome stand out.
