You can spot him at any event. He’s well skilled in all of the leisure time activities. He’ll kick your ass at darts, tell you a 100 stories, mix you the perfect mai tai, and be your best friend as the night comes to an end and the crowd heads into the darkness. He won’t remember you the next time you see him and that’s part of the fun. Every time you meet Captain Leisure you’re bound to have a great time.

A few weeks ago we took the kids to Storyland in New Hamspshire. This was the second trip to meccca for Willow and she had a blast. I learned a good lesson that day too. Storyland does not sell any type of pain reliever at all. No aspirin. No tylenol. Nothing. I know this because the girl with the blue stained tongue and mouth who was selling blueberry slushies told me so. It was a long day.

It’s not that easy being green, having to spend each day the color of the leaves. When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow, gold, or something much more colorful like that. It’s not easy being green. It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things and people tend to pass you over ’cause you’re not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water or stars in the sky.
